Shield Volcanoes
Shield Volcanoes: Shield volcanoes are the largest volcanoes on Earth that acually look like volcanoes. The Hawaiian shield volcanoes are the most famous examples. They are not steep, however Shield volcanoes are mostly basalt meaning they produce a type of lava that is very fluid when erupted. For this reason Shield volcanoes are not steep since you cannot pile up a fluid that runs easily.

Examples of shield volcanoes are Kilauea (Hawaii) and Mauna Loa.
