Mid-ocean ridges
The map below shows mid ocean ridges which is a type of volcano that is thought to be one long 70,000 kilometer volcano. The plates are pulled apart by convection in the upper mantle, and lava rushes to the surface to fill the space.

Scientists have never witnessed a Mid Ocean volcano.
